Galloway U11s on the ball

Galloway U11s celebrate their win

Galloway Cricket club Juniors won again this week at their Home ground at Castle Douglas. They faced the Dumfries side with their usual determination resulting in a win with wickets to spare.

They played on till the end of the allotted overs to give all of the players a chance to bat. Robert Ramsay had a good day at the office with a clean bowl and a catch to his name and Nathan and Lochlan batted well both hitting a ball out of the boundary and scoring a 4!

The Juniors have done very well recently by vastly increasing their numbers and had to have a team member sitting off at all times as twelve eager players turned up to play. This meant no shortage of umpires and scorers which is great for the kids to learn all aspects of the game.

This is a fantastic result for the club and has proved the extensive coaching programme that has been in place over the last few weeks to be a roaring success!

Sourish Mukherjee has been travelling around the Galloway schools delivering concentrated taster sessions to great effect.

This has resulted in a much higher attendance rate at the clubs coaching sessions (Wednesday night at Gatehouse ground and Thursday night at Dalbeattie High School) which reached an amazing 26 children at last Wednesday’s coaching session!

This has given head coach Howard Bradley plenty of options when picking a team for the weekend which will make the team all the more competitive and strengthens the future of the club.

If anyone is interested in coming along to the coaching sessions you can just turn up or for more information contact : Howard Bradley on 07950545993 or Sourish Mukherjee on 07931426989
