The Dumfries and Galloway Cricket Coach, Chris Stewart, is providing opportunities to take part in cricket sessions over the summer. These are taking place at various locations around the region.

Langholm (over 5 days)
Mon/11th to Fri/15th July
Group 1 11:30-12:30; Group 2 2:30-3:30 (different age groups)
Run by the Exel Project, Langholm.

2011 Easter Cricket Camps

The Dumfries and Galloway Community Coach, Chris Stewart, conducted two Easter holiday Cricket Camps over past week in Lochmaben, at the Lochmaben Centre, and in Langholm, at the Eskdale Centre.

These were run in conjunction with the Annandale and Eskdale Sports Academy programme.

2010 D&G Easter Cricket Camp – 6/7 April

A Cricket Scotland Easter Cricket Camp is being held during the Easter school holidays at the David Keswick Athletic Centre in Dumfries.

The sports camp is for children aged 8 to 13, boys and girls, and is open to all ability levels and and is for participants across Dumfries and Galloway. The camp will have a large emphasis on fun and participation.

The camp takes place on Tuesday (6th April) and Wednesday (7th April) from 10am to 1:30pm. AE Sports Academy Cricket Camps

in partnership with

Cricket Scotland and their new Dumfries & Galloway Community Coach, Chris Stewart and Langholm Cricket Club.

Cricket has been an established team sport for hundreds of years. With Scotland taking part in the last Cricket World Cup and the growing popularity of this sport the Leisure Trust in partnership with Cricketscotland, Langholm Cricket Club are looking to give children the opportunity to enjoy this popular sport.

This fun and exciting Cricket Camp led by Dumfries & Galloway’s new Community Coach will allow children to learn the key and basic skills involved in playing cricket. Children will be given the opportunity to master the art of bowling, batting, catching and throwing with fun cricket matches to finish.

Cricket Scotland LogoChildren will also have the opportunity to advance onto regular club sessions and there could possibly be an appearance by a Scottish Saltire.

Cost: – £6.00 per child (Langholm) and £3.00 per child (Annan)

Bats at the ready at the 2009 Cricket Scotland Summer Camp

The annual 3-day Cricket Scotland Junior Summer Camp was held last week at Nunholm, the ground of Dumfries Cricket Club. It was led by the new Dumfries and Galloway Community Cricket coach Chris Stewart from Langholm and happily, barring a couple of rain interruptions, took place largely in good cricketing weather. There was a high standard of ability on display and most importantly the youngsters attending from around the region had an enjoyable three days of sport.

Saltires Camp 9am to 12pm, Lions Camp 1pm to 4 pm

Nunholm, Dumfries Cricket Club. Cost: £40

Cricket Scotland LogoLions Camp: 9-11 year olds
Aimed at developing school cricketers / basic young club cricketers.  Based on skill development / introduction of hard ball.


Saltires Camp: 12-15 year olds (existing cricketers)

Develop players’ ability and understanding of the game, focusing on specific areas of skill development, game sense and specific practice.

All junior cricketers participating in the camps will be entered into a draw to win:

  • A 1:1 coaching session with the Saltires Coaching Team
  • A signed Saltires shirt
  • A bat signed by the Saltires Squad.
