A new indoor six-a-side competition is being launched for schools in the west of Scotland – entries by October 19.
The tournament is aimed at S3-6 youngsters whose summer term is eaten up by exams and often miss out on much school cricket.
The tournament is also hoping to avoid the prelim exams so early stages will be before Christmas with a finals event in the new year.
All schools who have been involved in the West section of the Scottish Schools Cup have been approached to enter a team. If your local school would like to enter they should contact Iain Stewart direct, e-mail iainstewart@cricketscotland.com or call him on 07825 172346.

Cup contenders: Langholm Academy and Dumfries High School
In the first local fixture of its kind Langholm Academy played Dumfries High School, in the first round of the Cricket Scotland Schools Cup at Nunholm last week. This competition is for S1-S3 secondary school pupils.
This was Langholm’s second year in the competition and Dumfries High School’s first and that difference in experience told as they won scoring 136 for 2 off their 20 overs, whilst Dumfries High were all out for 57 in 18.1 overs.

Cup win for Langholm Academy Cricket Team
The next round gives Langholm a home tie against either Airdrie Academy or Lomond House.
For most of the enthusiastic Dumfries High School team this was literally their first match out in the middle and marks a revival of the High School cricket team that used to play locally in a schools league.
The aim is for more such matches against more local school opposition.
