The Dumfries and Galloway Cricket Coach, Chris Stewart, is providing opportunities to take part in cricket sessions over the summer. These are taking place at various locations around the region.

Langholm (over 5 days)
Mon/11th to Fri/15th July
Group 1 11:30-12:30; Group 2 2:30-3:30 (different age groups)
Run by the Exel Project, Langholm.

Lockerbie Summer Cricket Camp
at King Edward Park, Wed 13th July, 10-2:30 (ages 5-14)
Cost £3. Please bring packed lunch.

More school cricket activities in June

Chris Stewart, the DG Community Cricket Coach, has been working during June delivering four weeks of weekly in-curriculum cricket sessions to Hottsbridge Primary School and after school cricket at Canonbie Primary and completing session blocks at other primaries.

He has also been providing cricket at the Kirkcudbright Academy Sports Week and has been using cricket for an activity class at the Keswick Centre.

Cricket taster sessions for local Brownies

The Dumfries and Galloway Cricket Coach, Chris Stewart, provided taster cricket sessions last month to two local Brownie groups in Annan and Gretna.

2011 Primary School sessions in May

Chris Stewart, the DG Community Cricket Coach, has been delivering four weeks of weekly cricket sessions during May at Duncow, Wallace Hall and Eaglesfield Primary Schools. He had also been providing four weeks of after school cricket at Hoddom Primary.

2011 Easter Cricket Camps

The Dumfries and Galloway Community Coach, Chris Stewart, conducted two Easter holiday Cricket Camps over past week in Lochmaben, at the Lochmaben Centre, and in Langholm, at the Eskdale Centre.

These were run in conjunction with the Annandale and Eskdale Sports Academy programme.

Cricket at Wallace Hall Academy

Throughout March, Chris Stewart, the D&G Community Coach, has been providing cricket sessions at the Secondary School level at Wallace Hall Secondary School in Thornhill. Sessions were delivered within the curriculum over a four week period to S4, S5, and S6 year pupils.

The post of local community coach is part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community, Dumfries and Galloway Leader 2007-2013 programme and is also supported by Cricket Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Leisure and Sport department, and local cricket clubs.

Successful local Level 1 course

The UKCC Level 1 Cricket Coaches Course, specifically targeted for the Dumfries and Galloway region, was successfully delivered through Cricket Scotland over two weekends in March at the David Keswick Centre in Dumfries. That had attendees from around the region and from local clubs with eighteen students of varying ages completing the course.
