Courses: Kwik Cricket Games Course Fri 9th Dec

There is a Kwik Cricket Games course being held locally at the David Keswick Centre, Dumfries on Friday 9th December, 4:30 to 6.

Kwik Cricket is a simple game for all boys and girls from five years of age upwards. It is currently played in primary schools and clubs around Scotland. It is designed to provide children with an introduction to cricket and can be played either indoors or outdoors.

The course shows how to run a fun Kwik Cricket game and be confident on how to organise a game successfully yourself. It is aimed at those new to the sport or those who need some familiarity with Kwik Cricket. So it is suitable if you are a parent, volunteer, player, or teacher and want to encourage some Kwik Cricket at your club, school or group.

On successful completion of the course, the candidates should feel confident in:

  • organising and setting-up a Kwik Cricket game
  • scoring a game of Kwik Cricket
  • umpiring a game of Kwik Cricket
  • understanding the rules of Kwik Cricket

It is free to attend and is being run by Tim Hart (West Cricket Development Manager) and Chris Stewart (D&G Community Cricket Coach).

If you want to take part please contact Chris Stewart on 07891370618 or email

Umpires Course

Cricket Scotland in partnership with the Scottish Cricket Officials Association will be running a Level 1 umpires course at Forfarshire CC in November and at Clydesdale CC in the new year.

The course is designed for people who intend to umpire on a regular basis and will cover everything in the laws concerning a one day game. There will be lots of examples of field craft and how to deal with potential situations which could arise on the field.

Attendance is free, as is the first year’s membership of ECB ACO; we do ask that you register at least 7 days in advance.

This course is designed for those who wish to umpire seriously; other courses will be held after Christmas, will be at a more introductory level and will last for one evening

Venue: Clydesdale CC, Titwood, Beaton Road, Glasgow.

Dates and times: Thurdays 19th & 26th Jan, 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd Feb 7.30-9.30pm (all dates). The 1st March will be free for revision with the exam being held on the 8th March.

For further details on courses see the Cricket Scotland website.
