Cricket for young Sports Leaders at Castle Douglas High

Cricket is on the curriculum of the Community Sports Leader Award (CSLA) programme at Castle Douglas High School this term.

Chris Stewart, the D&G Community Coach, is delivering a ICC Introduction to Cricket course to students over a six week period with the course commencing on February the 7th.

The Community Sports Leader Award is a nationally recognised qualification enabling people over 16 to assist in sporting and recreational activities throughout the community.

The Community Sports Leader Award (CSLA) is offered to students as part of their PE options programme. This enables them to gain a nationally recognized award which may allow them to assist in youth clubs, sports clubs and other such organizations.

The post of local community coach is part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community, Dumfries and Galloway Leader 2007-2013 programme and is also supported by Cricket Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Leisure and Sport department, and local cricket clubs.
