New Development Plan for 2011 and beyond

Dumfries & Galloway launches its development strategy for next 3 years……..

Dumfries & Galloway Area Cricket Development Group, one of five across Cricket Scotland’s west region has launched its new development plan for the next three years. The plan will come into effect from January 2011 and last until the end of September, to link in with the national Community Cricket Strategy ‘All together Better’ launched by Cricket Scotland on November 1st this year.

The content of the plan was identified by the development group, which is made up of the local clubs. The document was drawn up by Cricket Scotland West regional manager Iain Stewart. D&G Council sports development had input through Target Sports Officer Mark Adams who sits on the group as the link between cricket and the local authority.

Key to the plan will be Cricket Scotland D&G Community Coach Chris Stewart whose post as the local community coach is part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community, Dumfries and Galloway Leader 2007-2013 programme.

It is intended that the plan will give the group an additional focus and put an impetus on actioning initiatives in agreed realistic timeframes and it is available to be downloaded here –

D&G Cricket Development Group: Development Plan – January 2011 to Sep 30th 2013.

Secretary of the group Hugh Farries said of the plan: ”It is a positive step to see the development of cricket in the region planned and scoped out for the next three years”.

The plan will be reviewed quarterly at development group meetings.

Dates for review in 2011:
Last week of March, Last week of June, Mid Sept, Late Nov/early Dec 2011.
