Clyde beat DG U13s

Dumfries & Galloway under 13s came second to their Clyde counterparts on Sunday and ultimately by quite a margin. However there was not a huge difference between the cricket played by the teams.

The D&G opening bowlers were accurate and swung the ball. Colin Little in particular was miserly – conceding only 5 runs in his opening spell of 4 overs. The change bowlers also did their bit – keeping the talented Clyde batters in check. In reply to Clyde ’s 144 for 4, the home team’s batters also showed their abilities – Chris Lumb, Chris McBride and Todd Rafferty looking dangerous and keeping their side up with the required rate.

The main difference between the sides was the start they got to their innings. Flack, ably backed-up by Khan – the Clyde opening batters – were patient in the face of Colin Little and Todd Rafferty’s opening spells and were excellent in their shot selection throughout.

In the second innings Ahmad – bowling his team’s second over – was on a hat-trick with his third ball! Thereafter the D&G innings was characterised by a steady fall of wickets. The later batters did as much as they could with Danny Heron, last out, looking solid but the damage had already been done.
