Cricket Development Apprentice (SVQ) Programme vacancy

Cricket Scotland is pleased to announce the next scheduled intake of Cricket Development Apprentices (SVQ). This is the third intake since the inauguration of the scheme in 2007 and we look forward to further expanding the programme. The two year full time programme is designed to give participants experience of organising and delivering cricket coaching in their local communities while undertaking development and training activities which will prepare the participant for a potential career in sports or cricket development.

We are currently inviting applications from young people and organisations who are interested in joining the programme for the 2009 intake.

The apprenticeships are part funded by Scottish Enterprise to £2,500 per person per year, with this amount matched by a sponsor/host organisation to support the young person during their training. Further information on selection criteria and how to apply is available later in this document. Applicants will be selected on the suitability of the candidate and the strength of the additional support offered by the host organisation.

We are continuing our successful partnership with Dawes Training who have been working with us to deliver our training programme to the apprentices. As well as working with ourselves Dawes Training also delivered the award winning community coaching programme for Scottish Rugby and look forward to learning from and building on the success of that programme for the benefit of cricket.

Over the past two years the apprenticeship programme has enabled Cricket Clubs and local authority partnerships to not only increase their cricket development workforce but has led to an increase in schools coaching sessions, greater numbers of junior club members and a greater awareness of cricket in communities.

Should you require any further information which is not included elsewhere in this prospectus then do not hesitate to contact myself on the contacts listed below.

We would request that Expression of interest forms are forwarded to Cricket Scotland no later than 20th January 2009.

All applications for Apprenticeships are to be with us no later than Monday 3rd July 2009 with notification provided to successful applicants on or before 20th July 2009.

We would anticipate a start date for successful applicants of Monday 17th August 2009.
